Renon 18/01/2013, On last Friday Bali Health Foundation (Yakeba) held Injecting Drug Users meeting (IDUs). The meeting was conducted in the framework of enhancing the knowledge and provision for injecting drug user. The meeting was attended by approximately 15 participants injecting drug users. This activity is supported by the International AIDS Alliance through Rumah Cemara Foundation.
This activity will be conducted at two sites, namely Yakeba’s Office and in Public Health Center PKM. At this time the topic is information about the activities of Community Based Addiction Recovery (PABM) in which the activities are being carried out Yakeba. PABM intended for injecting drug users and other drugs. Drug users generally want to recover as much as 80% of the self and 20% by the support system.
The process of recruitment begins therapy client, the client recruited sources: 1) the community outreach program, 2) Methadone Maintenance Program (methadone patients who drop out), 3) Referral from local parties. Inclusion criteria: 1) Meets the criteria of opiate dependence, 2) Not having a mental disorder, 3) are experiencing severe physical disorders
The output of this activity is for the addicts become longer acceptable in society, and also improve the quality of life of drug users. The project used a method of Addiction Severity Index (ASI), which measures seven domains such as health problems, work, social, family, law, psychiatry and drugs. PABM activity also uses a standard test method WHOQoL WHO (Word Health Organization Quality of Life), which provides some tests to determine the level of quality of life of an addict in the past and the present.
Hopefully PABM activity has become one of the preferred methods of treatment for drug users to learn to live without the use of drugs, especially in Bali. IDUs meeting will be conducted on a regular basis each month. For all the information and service updates can be delivered to the fullest.
